Delecious meals from our camping kitchen

When we could wait a moment before we started eating, we took a picture to give you a look in our saucepan. It's amazing, what delicious food you can prepare on a simple camping-stove. We surprised ourselves with the success of our cooking-experiments.

Eggs suny side up on toast

A very special Sunday breakfast we sometimes prepared in a very cosy ambience: toast and eggs, sunny side up, prepared in a pan on our campingstove.

Avocado-Cucumber Salad

Here in Mexico Avocados are nativ and so reallz heap to get. A delicacy we didn't have in Germany very often. These vegetable is high in energy and you kan eat it just on a bread. But you also can prepare a quick and very delicious side dish with a cucumbe and some Basamico vinegar. In fact it is hard to get the vinegar but it's werth to carry some!

Fruit salad

A very light but also very nutrimental snack in hot days we prepared from all fruits we could get. In Mexico we often culd add an avocado and some raisins. And sometimes we also found a sweet fruit joghurt as dressing. So the fantasy has no limits!

The classical meal

Always, we have noodles in stock, mostly spagetti, because they offer the advantage of an optimal package density. Tomato paste does't taste as well as in Europe, but it's too available in small, practical tins. With fresh tomatoes, onions and spices you can pep it up to a delicious sauce. Everytime, we have onions with us and use them for nearly every meal.
This time, Markus was a little bit too stingy with the noodles, forgot that I'm always soooo hungry!

Tuna-creme-sauce

You can keep creme fresh for one or two days, if you pack it close and deep in the bags. We use half of the fresh bought creme immediately and half of the creme the next day(s). You can buy the tuna in a tin or a fresh as filet in the harbour. With masses of onions and pepper, some salt - the spagetti-sauce is ready - simply delicious! An important detail is the wine glass from Aschaffenburg.

Fish with carrot-celery-vegetable

Encouraged by our good experiences with fresh tuna, a little later angain, we bought fresh fish. We don't know what kind of fish we bought, but it was chaep and delicious! Through Wallace in Sequim, Washington, we experienced, how good the American celery tastes: much sweeter and more mild than in Europe! With carrots, onions, salt, pepper - and garlic if you like - in cream sauce, you get very delicious vegetable! Celery sticks and carrots are easy to transport in the bike bag.

Again and again: pancakes

Because we cook our big meal for lunch, we make only a simple snack in the evening. Here you see us preparing american pancakes for dinner. Fast and easy to prepare with pancake-powder from the supermarket, tastes well with jam on it. In my pancakes I did in this evening some dry raisins, I soaked in water some minutes ago. It's very important to have a stove, that doesn't heat too much. To cook pancakes with the MSR-Wisperlight is not easy but possible. Provided that you are in a calm corner, that you can hear it hissing.

Polenta with refried beans, sourcreme and corn

(Absolutely delighted and absorbed by our meal, we totally forgot to take a picture of this highlight.) Polenta is very easy to prepare: soak the corn flour in water and bake as small, flat pancakes in the pan. We spooned up the corn and refried beans directly form the tins, the sourcreme came just fresh out of the refridgerator of a small shop. Instaed of polenta you can use ready-made tacos you can buy in the supermarket, but corn flour is less expensive.

Noodles in "spinach-mud"

This meal Markus learned by watching the cook in his favorite italien restaurant in Oberhausen, Germany: saute strips of ham, add creme, spinach and thyme, boil a while, finally add parmesan (fine powdered) and season with salt and pepper. Originally this sauce is served to Fettichini noodles but naturally spagettis is good too. The leftover parmesan cheese can be kept for some days, the leftover hamslices we eat later with bread.

Vegetable meal

The recipe will come later. You only should get some appetite!

Again pancakes

Here we got it the first time to prepare real "German" egg-pancakes (ma)

Waterquality

In the States we used our water filter the first time. It worked well and we look forward to use it more often.

Making the dishes

Finally the dishes have to be done. This results sometimes in smaller discussions, but the cleanliness of the dishes is important, unfortunately.
